Puppies are allowed to leave home at 8-9
weeks. Prior to leaving they will have had eye
checks by a certified veterinary
ophthalmologist, also heart and general health
exams. They will have been de-wormed and
vaccinated with the first in the series of
shots. The puppies are raised in the middle of
the organized chaos which is our home. They are
well socialized, or as we call it,
"Pre-Spoiled".
After the health exams the litter is evaluated
and divided into show prospects and the elite
pet puppies. They are priced accordingly. Pet
puppies are sold with Limited AKC Registration
and spay/neuter contracts. When possible, they
will have already been altered. AKC Limited
Registration allows the dog to be shown in all
performance events and Junior Showmanship.
Show prospects are just that: Prospects.
Technically, any dog without disqualifying
faults and full AKC registration is showable. I
prefer to define "show prospect" as a puppy who
I feel should finish his championship given the
proper environment. No guarantee is implied. A
puppy sold at 9 weeks as a show prospect has a
long ways to go. His/her ears must never be
allowed to go prick or lay "funny". S/he must be
conditioned properly, trained properly and
presented properly in the show ring to actually
achieve his/her championship. A show prospect
puppy who develops a bad bite or does not have
two testicles at maturity will be replaced after
s/he is altered or returned.
Deposits are taken on a litter before and after
they are born. After the litter has been
evaluated the buyers choose in the order in
which I have received the deposits and after I
have chosen the pup/s I wish to keep. Show
prospects will not be available to pet buyers
unless I have no show buyers waiting. |
